For over twenty years Manchester has hosted nationally-appointed Advanced Training Posts in Hand Surgery (known as TIG Fellows).
General information about the Fellowship can be found on the fellowship section of the BSSH website. Our Fellowship is run in partnership with our colleagues Mr Lindsay Muir, Mr Zafar Naqui and Ms Julia Ruston at Salford Royal. The BSSH has an information page about the Manchester Fellowship.

Since 2024 we have also offered a separate Advanced Hand Fellowship at Manchester Foundation Trust. This 1-2 year fellowship includes a mix of independent trauma & elective practice as well as training sessions with our consultant hand surgeons. The programme is adapted to the needs of the Fellow, and can include complex wrist (including arthroscopy), small joint arthroplasty, congenital hand and peripheral nerve surgery.
